"why not?"
At the promotional price of $24.99 that I paid for this necklace, it was more than worth the price. The pearls have good luster, minor blemishes, and are evenly graduated. The multi-colored pearls might not be for everyone, but I like it for a less formal, yet still classic look. The necklace is knotted between each pearl. (This traditional method of stringing pearls prevents the pearls from flying everywhere if the strand is broken.) The only criticism I have is that the stringing seems a bit tight, and there are slight kinks in the necklace. I'm waiting to see if it loosens up a bit with hanging so that it drapes better. If not, I'll restring it, which is not a problem if you know how. (If you had to pay a jeweler to restring, it might cost more than it's worth.)

Great LusterJun 03, 2008
By ~ Z ~ I purchased these Pearls as a Lightening Deal for $24.99. These Pearls are worth every penny and more. They have a wonderful luster and I really like the pink/purple hues the pearls have. Great for casual wear. It also comes with a very durable buckle/clasp. Check out my Chihuahua in the item images displaying the necklace - noticed the variety of the pink/purple shades and the shine of the Pearls.

Pretty, but not perfectly strungNov 25, 2009

This was a great price and I was suprised at the nice quality of the individual pearls, but, the stringing of the pearls lacked uniformity in arrangement of color. There were many darker colors on one side making the whole necklace look off-balance. This piece can only be viewed as a "fashion" piece and not as an heirloom to pass down, but still worth looking into.

By OV You get what you pay for. Don't expect a gift for your girlfriend or wife. It is more for a child, by size and by finishing.

Pretty, but...Jun 17, 2008
By Nightfall It seems to me that it is shorter than 18 inches. I haven't put a ruler to them, but I know how my 16 1/2inch necklaces fall and I would estimate this one at 16 and 1/2 to 17 at most. Just beware if you have a larger neck or would like it to fall lower. Perhaps it was just the strand I got, but I also notice that the graduation was not very even (some pearls toward the center were slightly smaller than some of those toward the clasp). Also note the 8mm measurement refers to the largest center pearl, the ones closer to clasp are about a third that size. However, all this is only noticible with very close inspection and, like I said, maybe it's just a problem with the one I recieved. When I wore them for the first time I recieved many compliments. The pearls are more lustrous than I thought I could get for this price, have very few blemishes and are of very pretty coloring (from cream to light pink to light violet). Overall, I am happy with this purchase.
